Biography

Through fragmented figures, abraded surfaces, graphic interruptions, and unstable fields of color, John Francis's paintings examine how personal memory, inherited images, and historically charged places are partially recovered and reassembled through paint. The work draws on psychological realism, surrealist strategies, and symbolic color and flattened space.
